To mark the anniversary of "surviving" this music business/live performing business, I asked legendary photographer and overall great guy Danny Clinch if I could use a photo he took of me one night after I walked off stage after JD&SC played a raucous set at The Paramount Theater in Asbury Park for the Light of Day Foundation. I was a sweaty mess with guitar, cable, and setlist in hand. As I was walking up the stairs Danny said "stop, turn around" and he started clicking away. Good eye for sure! I say that with humor, as Danny, as many of you know, has shot so many successful artists throughout his career (Johnny Cash, Bruce, Pearl Jam, Tom Waits, Tupac, Foo Fighters, to name a few!) I felt honored that he did that and when it came time to look back on 35 years, I thought that shot was a great representation of what I/we try and do every night: leave it all out there.
