Time to Go

(Joe D'Urso)
I started writing this song after I first saw "Saving Private Ryan" a few years back. The scene that inspired me was when the soldiers are waiting for battle but listening to a beautiful French song, Edith Piaf I believe. How that memory stuck in his mind intrigued me. This mixed with walking around so many old cities in Europe lead me to this song.

She was wearing, red, white and blue
It was the south of France, it was early June
The smell of bread and her perfume

And I knew I had to find a way
And I knew I had to leave that day
Time for me to go
It was time for me to go

Ancient corridors down ancient ways
Hear them breath, feel what they say
And I remember how I felt that day

And I knew I had to find a way
And I knew I had to leave that day
Time for me to go
It was time for me to go

Fifty years have now come and gone
And I still can remember the sound of that song
And the way the moon yawned

Time for me to go
It was time for me to go
