Groundhog Day

(Joe D'Urso)

Well, I woke this morning about half past ten
Respectable time for non-working men
Made some coffee read the morning news
Same as yesterday made me confused
Turned on the radio they had the same to say
That’s daily living when it’s Groundhog Day

I gathered myself and walked through the house
Not a creature was stirring not even that mouse
My Wife and kids seemed to be gone, out of sight
Then I heard daily lessons from ear buds of white
Staring at computer screens the virtual way
That’s daily living when it’s Groundhog Day

I have so much time on my hands, can’t get anything done
I could learn any instrument under the moon and sun
Was always looking for a little down time as they say
But now I’m wallowing in my freedom of choice now that’s it’s Groundhog Day

Maybe one day I’ll be back on that stage
Like a wild animal released from its cage
I will look out and see a sea of smiling faces
Not one single mask no sanitizers cases
And music will ring from cities to shining seas to the bay
But for right now that’s just a dream it’s Groundhog Day

I have so much time on my hands, can’t get anything done
I could learn any instrument under the moon and sun
Was always looking for a little down time as they say
But now I’m wallowing in my freedom of choice now that’s it’s Groundhog Day

Well, I woke this morning about half past ten
Yeah, I woke this morning about half past ten
I woke this morning about half past ten
Well, I woke this morning about half past ten
I got you babe, I got you babe, over and over again
Yeah it’s half past ten, half past ten, I got u babe, I got u babe…
