"Rock-Land" CD Reissue
"Cause" Tour Continues On ...
Updated on January 11, 2007
I know, I know, I know! What the hell took me so long in updating this page? Usually two or three months slide by but this time it was 6 months! I will do my best for a quick recap
and tell what's on the upcoming horizon.
Myself and Stone Caravan (Sam, Mr.Lou and Greg) performed at Summerfest in Milwaukee once again. It was my 15th year in a row at this great festival and I am looking forward to number
16!
I was back in Italy during the summer of 2006 with The Backstreets and Joe Rapolla. We had a great time and played many shows that we won't forget any time soon. I got the chance
to visit the Isle of Ponza where my grandfather came from. It's a small island off the coast between Rome and Naples. I walked through the rooms of his home and stood in the room where
he was born. It's a memory that will be with be forever. I hope one day to return to the island and stay at that home. It's beautiful with an awesome view of the beach and port.
The autumn brought another Hungerthon in Asbury Park. This year was a 15-act show that was a Bruce-fest and was a blast as it was great to hear so many Jersey and New York artist
take on the Boss. Many thanks to all who attended and brought along food for the The Food Bank. We may do this show in NYC in early 2007.
December was dominated by Light of Day 7 as three shows took place in Sayreville, New Jersey where over 40 artists performed to raised money and awareness for Parkinson's Disease.
Once again, Bruce Springsteen joined in the fray and raised the roof on The Starland Ballroom. Many thanks to Concerts East for all their help and to everyone who gave their time and
money to raise awareness and funds for Bob Benjamin's medical costs and Parkinson's Research.
Once the Jersey shows were completed, myself, Willie Nile and Jesse Malin headed overseas with our acoustic guitars and hosted Light of Day Europe in Bedford-England, Rome-Italy and
Barcelona-Spain. We were joined by Mick Kemp in England, Lorenzo Semprini in Rome and Gary Louris and Nacho Vegas in Barcelona. Many thanks to Mike Plummer, Tita Zirilli, Sal Trepat
and Gloria for all their promotional help with these shows. 50% of all monies raised were donated to a Parkinson's organization in each country. The goal for next year is for 9 Light
of Day shows: 3 in New Jersey and one each in Los Angeles, San Francisco, England, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Holland! "Just around the corner to the light of day, yeah!".
Ok, that brings us up to 2007. We are finally, finally reissuing our 1993 CD "Rock-Land" which has been out of print for 6 or 7 years. I been saying that for a while but the cd is
at the production plant as I type this and will be available at shows and online shortly. I can't believe it's been 15 years since we released our first cd but I guess we have covered
some good ground in that time. It was fun to listen to some songs that I haven't heard in quite some time. Not sure if I remember how to play them!
January 31 to February 10 will see us returning once again to England, Scotland, Wales and Italy for 10 shows and we will be joined by friends Mick Kemp Band, Miami & The Groovers,
Ron LaSalle and The Backstreets. We'll perform in Torquay, Leicester, London, Colwyn Bay, Brescia, Rome, Ferrera, Glasgow, Newcastle and Nottingham.
Before we leave for Europe we'll be performing two shows on January 27th at The Turning Point and we will be announcing New York City and Spring Rockland County dates soon. The rest
of the year will hopefully see us return to Summerfest in Milwaukee, the Jersey Shore and Italy in the Summertime as well as other places along the way.
Thanks as always for the support and we look forward to seeing you on the road somewhere, sometime, someplace!
All the best,
Joe D'Urso
